Wedding drinks calculator

How much wine, beer or spirits to buy depends on your guests, so this calculator does not guess how much people drink. Enter your own estimate of drinks per guest per hour, your drink mix and the servings you will pour from each bottle or unit, and it does the arithmetic. Nothing is saved or sent anywhere.

The drinks-per-hour value above is only an example so the page shows a result; it is not a rule of thumb. Servings per bottle depend on the bottle size and how much you pour: check your own. Bottles are rounded up to whole units for each drink. Price is optional.

How it works

Total drinks = guests × hours × your drinks per guest per hour. Drinks of each type = total drinks × share ÷ 100. Bottles or units = drinks ÷ servings per bottle, rounded up. Cost = bottles × price per bottle.

Worked example (the made-up values above): 80 guests × 5 hours × 1 drink per guest per hour = 400 drinks. At 50% wine that is 200 glasses; at 5 servings a bottle that is 40 bottles, $480.00 at $12.00 each. Beer at 30% is 120 drinks, 120 units at 1 serving each, $216.00 at $1.80. Spirits at 20% is 80 drinks; at 16 servings a bottle that is 5 bottles, $140.00 at $28.00. Total $836.00. If your own estimate were 0.8 drinks per guest per hour, the total would be 320 drinks and every quantity would change with it.

Drinks are usually a per-guest cost: add yours to the cost per guest calculator. See also all calculators.
