Wedding Budget Tools

Free wedding budget spreadsheet (Excel / Numbers)

A small, free wedding budget spreadsheet. Enter your total budget, then up to 12 categories with the percentage of the budget you want to give each one, what you have booked and what you have paid so far. It shows the planned amount, what is still to pay and how far each category is over or under plan, with totals and the budget you have left.

Download the free template (.xlsx)

One sheet, no macros, no sign-up. Excel format (.xlsx). We checked its formulas in Apple Numbers 14.2 and LibreOffice Calc against hand-worked test cases, including the example in the file. It has not been tested in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets. No typical prices or recommended split are built in: every number is yours.

What's in it

How it works

Planned = total budget × allocation %. Still to pay = booked cost − paid so far. Remaining vs plan = planned − booked cost: below zero means that category is OVER plan. Remaining budget = total budget − all booked costs. Enter percentages as 12% (or 0.12), not 12.

Worked example in the file

The example is made up, not a recommended split: a $20,000 budget over nine categories that add up to 100%. Six are booked for $16,330 in all, with $5,730 paid so far, so $10,600 is still to pay and $3,670 of the budget is left. Catering was booked at $6,300 against a $6,000 plan, so it shows OVER by $300; every other category is under plan.
